Many of us are concerned with the changing environment and have made steps in our homes to reduce, reuse and recycle. We believe it is our responsibility to implement these waste reducing steps in our office as well. Our number one priority is to provide the best possible care for our patients and we feel “going green” is another way of doing just that. We have made many environmentally conscious steps toward reducing our waste such as:
-
Using digital x-rays which completely eliminate the use of toxic developing chemicals and lead wrapped films. Our patients and staff are also exposed to 90 percent less radiation with the use of digital imaging technology instead of traditional x-rays.
-
Using steam-based, surgical-grade instrument sterilization, which contains no harmful chemicals and reduces water use.
-
Utilizing a special water filtration system that allows for the environmentally sound disposal of silver filling material in order to prevent mercury pollution of our local water ways.
-
Filing most insurance claims electronically to greatly reduce the use of paper.
-
Recycling non-contaminated plastic, aluminum and paper.
